Position Overview: Information Researcher – Real World Evidence

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for generating Real World Evidence through advanced research and innovative methodologies within the clinical trials space. You will become an essential part of our Scientific Issues team, working closely with cross-functional stakeholders to address critical business questions through sophisticated data analysis. Your work will directly influence both internal and external decision-making processes, shaping the future of healthcare interventions and treatment strategies.

This position reports to the Chief of Clinical Data Science and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research that bridges the gap between clinical data and actionable healthcare insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Mining and Analysis: Mine raw data sets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms. Analyze and interpret results with precision, translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights that shape overall analysis strategy.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various members of the arenaflex Clinical Trial team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources. Support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests, including analysis of unmet medical needs, safety and efficacy of treatments in specific disease states, treatment patterns, and healthcare economic burden.
• Cost-Effectiveness Modeling: Conduct comprehensive cost-effectiveness modeling and healthcare economic analyses that provide valuable insights for our pharmaceutical partners and internal stakeholders.
• Data Management and Organization: Clean, transform, and store data into a structured data lake environment for future analysis and broader team utilization. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across the organization.
• Statistical Analysis and Insights: Perform advanced data mining and statistical analysis to examine RWE and Real World Data (RWD), uncovering new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Apply rigorous statistical methodologies to identify patterns, trends, and correlations that inform clinical decision-making.
• Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analysis, and platform capabilities. Apply advanced analytics and innovative tools to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical organizations, contributing to our thought leadership in the industry.
• Research Study Execution: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and scientific validity. Apply best practices in epidemiological research and observational study design.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, thorough, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations. Maintain rigorous quality standards that meet or exceed industry expectations.
• Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and comprehensive reports for both internal and external use. Create compelling visual representations of complex data that facilitate understanding and drive decision-making.
• Vendor Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors. Drive RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions and partnership opportunities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in statistical research and healthcare data analysis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

• Statistical Research Expertise: Proven experience in designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical investigations within the context of epidemiology and observational research using healthcare data. You should have a deep understanding of study design, statistical inference, and result interpretation.
• Statistical Methodology Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of common statistical testing techniques, including generalized linear models, classification and regression, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis. Familiarity with advanced statistical concepts is essential.
• Large Data Handling Experience: Demonstrated experience processing large-scale data from diverse data sources. You should be comfortable working with complex, multi-dimensional datasets and possess the technical skills to manage data at scale.
• Healthcare Data Compliance: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with the utmost care and confidentiality. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and data privacy requirements is critical.
• Business Intelligence Proficiency: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence and visualization tools. Experience translating data into meaningful visual insights is highly valued.
• Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as statistics, biostatistics, data science, public health, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees are a plus but not required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare Data Expertise: Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Understanding of the healthcare data landscape is highly desirable.
• Clinical Data Standards: Expertise in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies, including ICD-9/10 and ReadCodes.
• Regulatory Compliance: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials, including ISO standards, MDD/MDR, and CFR requirements.
• Innovative Data Collection: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and digital health solutions.
• Advanced Statistical Skills: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data analysis, and computational statistics. Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their application in healthcare research.
• Continuous Learning: Strong understanding of statistics and machine learning methods, coupled with the ability to pursue self-learning of both technical and non-technical skills. A growth mindset is essential for success in this rapidly evolving field.
