Role Overview
Are you excited about using econometrics to make sophisticated decisions more science and data-driven? Are you interested in supporting Buyer Equipment gadget ideas from creative concept inception to launch? Would you like to work with Economists and Data Scientists focused on tackling the toughest business questions within the Electronics division and then scaling those Measurements and Econometrics solutions via internal arenaflex tools?
If this sounds like you, then this could be the ideal opportunity for you! We are looking for a talented Data Science & Econometrics Professional to join our Gadget Partner Product and Service team. In this role, you will support multiple data science decision meetings for gadget partner products based on various factors such as device cost, inventory, traffic, affordability, expansion, and more. You will utilize Science and Tools developed by the Economics team, including conjoint demand models to produce partner product recommendations.
As part of the partner-facing arm of the team, you will own relationships with leadership to help improve end-user experience and make the Partnership Strategy more data and science-driven. Simultaneously, you will work with Applied Researchers, Economists, and Software Developers to provide meaningful feedback about partner issues to inform business solutions and increase the speed, quality, and scale behind our recommendations. You will own projects to make progress on Decision Science itself, all while receiving investments in your development to pursue your career goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Data-Driven Decision Support: Support up to multiple data science decision meetings for gadget partner products based on factors including device cost, inventory, traffic, affordability, expansion, and market dynamics
- Econometric Modeling: Utilize Science and Tools developed by the Economics team, including conjoint demand models, to produce actionable gadget partner product recommendations
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Own relationships with cross-functional leaders to help improve end-user experience and make Partnership Strategy more data and science-driven
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with Applied Researchers, Economists, and Software Developers to provide meaningful feedback about partner issues that inform business solutions
- Solution Enhancement: Increase the speed, quality, and scale behind recommendations by identifying improvements in our analytical processes and tools
- Project Ownership: Lead initiatives to advance Decision Science capabilities within the organization
- Business Intelligence: Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization in the gadget partner ecosystem
- Innovation: Contribute to the development of new analytical frameworks and methodologies that can be scaled across the organization
Essential Qualifications
- Professional Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, Data Researcher, or in a similar analytical role
- Technical Proficiency: 3+ years of experience with data querying languages (such as SQL), scripting languages (such as Python), or statistical/numerical programming (such as R, SAS, MATLAB, or similar)
- ML & Statistical Modeling: 3+ years of experience with machine learning and statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, including understanding of parameters that affect model performance
- Applied Modeling: Experience applying theoretical models in an applied, real-world business environment
- Client-Facing Experience: 3+ years of experience in a partner or client-facing professional or researcher role, with demonstrated business acumen
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Programming: Strong proficiency in Python, Perl, or another scripting language with demonstrated ability to write efficient, maintainable code
- Enterprise Experience: Experience in a Machine Learning or Data Scientist role with a large technology company, preferably in e-commerce, consumer electronics, or related industries
- Experimental Design: Experience developing experimental and analytical designs for data modeling processes, with a strong ability to establish solid baselines and accurately determine cause-and-effect relationships
- Domain Expertise: Familiarity with consumer electronics, smart home devices, or accessory product ecosystems
- Advanced Analytics: Knowledge of conjoint analysis, demand forecasting, pricing optimization, or similar econometric techniques
- Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable business recommendations for non-technical stakeholders
