Position Overview
The Senior Analyst, Content Material Valuation will be responsible for establishing arm's length-based content pricing and preparing quarterly close and economic planning deliverables for scripted and unscripted content certified by our streaming platforms globally. This role requires a highly analytical professional who can work with large data sets, collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
As part of the Content Valuation & Analytics team, you will work closely with key stakeholders from Legal, Labor Relations, Finance, Participations, Controllership, and International Content Sales. Your insights will directly inform pricing strategies for our extensive television content library across both linear networks and direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming services.
This is a hybrid remote work role based in Burbank, CA, offering the flexibility to work from home while maintaining regular collaboration with your team in person.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Analyst at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with meaningful responsibilities that directly impact our business. Your daily activities will include:
- Content Pricing Strategy: Establish arm's length-based content pricing and prepare quarterly close and economic planning deliverables for scripted and unscripted content certified by Hulu and Disney+ globally. You will ensure that our content is priced competitively and accurately reflects its true market value.
- Regional Analysis: Consolidate quarterly regional content valuation submissions and identify key variance drivers. Distill your findings into actionable insights that can be presented to senior management and inform strategic decisions.
- Planning Support: Assist in preparing long-range and budget planning deliverables as needed, contributing to the overall financial health and strategic direction of the organization.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as the primary touchpoint to key stakeholders at DTC Finance, Studio Finance, Participations, and Controllership. Build strong relationships across these departments to ensure alignment and facilitate smooth workflows.
- Process Improvement: Partner with Finance stakeholders to identify and improve process efficiencies and best-of-class imputations. Your efforts will help streamline operations and enhance the accuracy of our financial reporting.
- Data Synthesis: Curate and synthesize large amounts of data to draw conclusions and make recommendations resulting in actionable insights. You will transform raw data into meaningful business intelligence that drives decision-making.
- Performance Tracking: Automatically tune and maintain content performance metrics, including Nielsen Scores, critical review scores, and industry awards, for network and cable primetime applications. This information is crucial for evaluating content success and informing future investments.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in a variety of ad hoc projects designed to introduce new concepts and expand your knowledge of key standards across the spectrum of content distribution and licensing. This dynamic aspect of the role ensures continuous learning and professional growth.
Essential Qualifications
We're seeking a candidate who brings a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and personal attributes that will enable them to succeed in this role:
- Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of modern experience in financial analysis, finance, and/or 2+ years of experience from a major Big 4 CPA firm. This background provides the foundation for understanding complex financial concepts and applying them to content valuation.
- Self-Motivation: Be a self-starter, creative, flexible, and proactive individual who is willing to pitch in wherever needed. The ability to work independently and take initiative is essential for success in this role.
- Autonomy: Experience working under minimal supervision with the ability to scope, identify, and execute value-added procedures and process upgrades. We need someone who can drive projects forward with minimal guidance.
- Project Management: Strong project management abilities with the capacity to track and establish targets, manage multiple priorities, and pivot quickly based on the immediate needs of the business. The ability to multitask and adapt to changing circumstances is crucial.
- Collaboration: Capability to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and partner across all levels of management. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this cross-functional role.
- Analytical Skills: Experience with large data sets and analytical tools, with a proven ability to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data. Attention to detail, accuracy, initiative, strong problem-solving skills, excellent work ethic, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment are all critical.
- Numerical Proficiency: A genuine comfort working with numbers, performing analysis, and maintaining accurate supporting documentation of work done. Precision and thoroughness are non-negotiable in this role.
- Decision-Making: Comfortable rationalizing and justifying decisions made and strategies applied, but flexible with switching direction if situations dictate. We value professionals who can defend their recommendations while remaining open to alternative approaches.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) with strong financial modelling skills required. Advanced Excel expertise is essential, including the required understanding and application of Pivot Tables and advanced Excel formulas such as INDEX, MATCH, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, VSTACK, and nested IF statements.
- Industry Passion: A passion for the entertainment industry and television programming. Content licensing experience is a plus, but not required. Your enthusiasm for the industry will fuel your success in this role.
Education Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Economics, or another quantitative discipline is required. This educational foundation provides the analytical and problem-solving skills necessary for the role.
