They are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Virtual High School Computer Science Teacher to educate and inspire students in foundational and advanced computing concepts, equipping them with essential digital literacy and programming skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver interactive lessons on computing fundamentals, programming logic, cybersecurity, database technology, operating systems, and cloud implementations
- Teach students foundational computing concepts, including networks and the internet, data analysis, algorithms, and problem-solving strategies
- Guide students in coding and script development to solve real-world problems using logic, flowcharting, and algorithm design
- Foster critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation through project-based learning and technology-driven activities
- Integrate current events and emerging computing trends into curriculum to keep students engaged with real-world applications
- Utilize and teach Adobe products, cybersecurity fundamentals, and other relevant tools to support student learning
- Prepare students for AP Computer Science or dual-credit coursework, ensuring alignment with college-level expectations when applicable
- Provide mentorship and career guidance related to computer science fields, including industry certifications, internships, and higher education pathways
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in computer science and education technologies
Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or related field
- Teaching certification required (AP/Dual Credit certification preferred)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript is a plus
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, databases, and cloud computing concepts
- Experience working with Adobe products is preferred
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, technology-driven learning environment
- Familiarity with educational technology and virtual learning tools
- Experience designing engaging hands-on projects in computer science
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and grade levels
