[Remote] Texas-Licensed CPA Consultant, Government Risk Accounting Review

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. GTS Technology Solutions is supporting a public sector client with a short-term need for a Texas-licensed CPA consultant. The consultant will help assess current accounting treatment, review loss/reserve/payment timing, evaluate policies, and prepare a professional report with findings and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Review current accounting treatment for a risk-related fund/account
• Assess accounting considerations related to losses, reserves, payments, liabilities, and related entries
• Review policy alignment and identify gaps, inconsistencies, or areas needing clarification
• Interpret client-provided financial reports and supporting documentation
• Provide a professional report with findings and recommendations
• Communicate clearly with the client regarding questions, observations, and recommended next steps

Skills

• Active CPA license in the State of Texas
• Government accounting experience
• Experience reviewing accounting treatment, financial reporting, account activity, or policy alignment
• Ability to prepare professional findings and recommendations
• Strong written communication and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote consulting environment
• Experience supporting counties, municipalities, large cities, public agencies, or similar government entities
• Experience with risk funds, claims, reserves, losses, self-insurance, workers' compensation, liability accounting, or related financial risk areas
• Familiarity with SAP financial reporting or ability to interpret SAP-generated financial reports
• Independent CPA consulting, CPA practice ownership, or small firm consulting experience
• Experience preparing assessment reports, accounting memos, audit-style findings, or client-facing recommendations
