They are seeking a Manager, Cost Accounting to oversee all aspects of cost accounting and inventory valuation to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with company policies and GAAP.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the cost accounting team, ensuring high performance, professional growth, and a culture of accountability
- Establish and maintain cost accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports for management
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting processes related to cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory
- Provide cost analysis to assist in pricing decisions and margin improvement strategies
- Partner with Operations and Procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with FP&A and Accounting teams to align cost data with financial statements
- Manage cost accounting aspects of external audits
- Drive enhancements in ERP system (NetSuite) and cost accounting processes for better accuracy and efficiency
- Implement best practices for cost tracking and analysis
- Provide cost analysis for new product introductions, capital projects, and purchasing decisions
- Maintain accurate cost data for scenario planning and contingency analysis
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in cost accounting leadership
- Demonstrate ability to lead and develop a cost accounting team, including goal setting, coaching, and managing teams competing priorities
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing cost structures and ERP systems (NetSuite experience required)
- Experience designing and maintaining cost accounting internal controls
- Experience developing pricing support models and margin analysis frameworks to inform commercial decision-making
- Proficiency in scenario planning and contingency cost modeling, with the ability to translate assumptions into financial projections for leadership decision-making
- Experience leading ERP enhancements or system implementations related to cost accounting modules
- Proficiency in Excel for complex financial modeling, including pivot tables, Power Query, and advanced formulas for cost analysis
- Proven ability to diagnose complex cost problems, develop data-driven solutions, and communicate findings and recommendations clearly
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
- Extensive experience collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Demand Planning, Procurement, and FP&A to align on cost initiatives
