OVERVIEW OF POSITION
Episode.1 is looking for a Vice President of Production, who is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end execution of high-profile experiential marketing programs, brand activations, live events, pop-ups, mobile tours, retail installations, sponsorship experiences, and large-scale consumer engagements. This leader will manage a group of internal and external production teams, establish operational excellence, and ensure every project is delivered efficiently, safely, on time, and at the highest standard.
The VP of Production will partner closely with Creative, Strategy, Client Services, Operations, and agency leadership to bring ambitious brand experiences to life. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced production leader with deep knowledge of experiential marketing, live event production, fabrication, technical production, staffing, budgeting, vendor management, permitting, logistics, and team leadership.
As a member of Episode.1’s senior leadership team, this role will be responsible for shaping all aspects of the agency.
VP OF PRODUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, mentor, and scale an international team of producers across a portfolio of current and future projects
Manage at a high level the full production lifecycle from budget development through activation and final reconciliation
Establish and enforce production processes, workflows, and best practices across the department
Partner with Creative, Account, Strategy and Agency leadership to align production capabilities with agency ambitions and client expectations
Build and maintain a robust vendor and freelance network across venues, AV, fabrication, staffing, and logistics
Oversee department P&L, including resource allocation, revenue tracking and all financial forecasts
Serve as executive escalation point for complex, high-stakes productions and client relationships, while leading productions as needed
Develop and manage the annual production department budget and headcount planning
Drive innovation in production methodology, ai, technology integration, and sustainability practices
Identify potential setbacks/risks, develop contingency plans, and manage dependencies across internal and external teams to maintain delivery momentum.
Responsible for all staffing responsibilities within the account department. This includes securing full time and freelance resources.
Developing, reviewing and approving program budgets that align with revenue goals, while ensuring project and internal team success.
Maintain awareness of industry trends
Collaborate with Business Development on new business pitches, scoping, and capability presentations
Maintain line of site across all workstreams between Episode.1 and client
Responsible for contractual negotiations and reviews with vendors, venues and other third parties
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
15+ years of production experience within experiential, live events, conferences, keynotes, and brand activation; agency-side preferred
3+ years in a senior leadership role managing multi-disciplinary internal production teams
Deep expertise across event disciplines: fabrication, AV/lighting/video, venue operations, permitting, logistics, and talent management
Proven track record managing large-scale productions ($10M+ budgets) for Fortune 500 clients
Ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
Serve as a collaborative partner with agency leadership, while aligning with agency ways of working.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across production, account, and creative teams.
Have the ability to self manage priorities and work load.
Demonstrate the ability to manage and mentor a diverse team of account management leads
Proven ability to drive revenue and new business sales
Proven ability to lead new business pitches and win RFPs
The ability to be a decisive decision maker, while making decisions in the best interest of the agency and its clients.
Must possess a strong work ethic and excel in a fast-paced environment
Strong financial acumen with experience owning department-level P&L
Exceptional communication and client-facing skills; ability to operate confidently in executive settings
Experience negotiating vendor, venue and all third party contracts
Ability to operate with urgency and motivate those around you to do the same.
Daily use of Slack, Email, Power Point and all other project management tools
Ability to travel up to 50%
