As a Staff Data Scientist on our Customer Data Science team, you'll work as the technical lead for all data science initiatives, driving solutions that affect hundreds of millions of customers worldwide.

What You'll Do
Data Source Identification
- Understand the involved order of requirements and service level agreements
- Define and identify the most appropriate sources for required data that is fit for purpose, regarding external sources as required
- Perform preliminary data quality checks on the extracted information
- Review the deliverables of junior peers and provide guidance
Problem Formulation
- Analyze business problems within one's field and question assumptions to help the business in perceiving the root cause
- Identify and recommend methods to solve the business's problems
- Set data analytics, big data analytics, automation goals, and deliverables based on the setup success criteria and outline key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of the solution
- Quantify business impact
Analytical Modeling
- Select appropriate modeling techniques for complex problems with large scale, multiple structured and unstructured data sets
- Select and develop variables and functions iteratively based on model responses in collaboration with the business
- Conduct exploratory data analysis activities (for example, basic statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, statistical inferences) on to-be-known data
- Identify dimensions and designs of experiments and create test and research frameworks
- Interpret data to identify trends to go across future data sets
- Create continuous, online versions learning including iterative model improvements
- Develop newer techniques (for example, advanced machine learning algorithms, automotive ML) through leveraging the latest trends in machine learning, artificial intelligence to train algorithms to use models to new data sets
- Guide the team on feature engineering, experimentation, and advanced modeling techniques for use for complex problems with unstructured and multiple data sets (for example, streaming data, raw text data)
Model Deployment & Scaling
- Work with MLOps to push ML models to production
- Continuously log and track model behavior once it's deployed against the defined metrics
- Identify model parameters which may need changes depending on scale of deployment
Code Development & Testing
- Write code to develop the required solution and application capabilities by identifying the right programming language and leveraging business, technical, and data requirements
- Create test cases to study and validate the proposed solution design
- Create proofs of concept
- Test the code using the appropriate testing method
- Contribute code documentation, maintain playbooks, and provide timely development updates
Applied Business Acumen
- Evaluate proposed business cases for projects and initiatives
- Influence business stakeholder decision making
- Translate business requirements into strategies, projects, and initiatives and align them to business strategy and goals and drive the execution of deliverables
- Build and articulate the business case and return on investment and grant work that has demonstrable value
- Challenge business assumptions on topics related to one's area of expertise
- Develop new organization-wide approaches and approaches to working
- Teach and guide others on best practices
- Proactively engage inside the outside network to build arenaflex's brand and learn more about industry practices
Model Assessment & Validation
- Identify and review model assessment metrics based on analytical requirements
- Apply appropriate techniques for model testing and tuning, to assess accuracy, fit, validity, and robustness
- Ensure testing data is documented and maintained through the team
Data Visualization and Storytelling
- Identify and recommend the most appropriate visualization tools based on context
- Generate appropriate graphical representations of data and model results
- Understand customer requirements to design suitable data representation for complex data sets and drive User Experience designers and User Interface engineers to build front-end applications
- Define application design based on customer requirements
- Build compelling stories based on context to integrate multiple pieces of information into cohesive insights
- Present to and influence various audiences using the right frameworks and convey clear messages through deep business and stakeholder knowledge
- Customize communication style based on stakeholders and leverage relationships to drive behavioral change
- Guide and mentor junior peers on story types, structures, and strategies based on context
What You'll Bring
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Four years of experience in an analytics-related field
- Deep knowledge and understanding of machine learning, statistics, and data science in general
- Strong programming skill in at least one of Python/R
- Ability to execute projects end-to-end including with junior peers
- Implement best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, etc.
- Clearly communicate with business, product, and application partners
- Ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations in simple language
- Ability to present to management along with outside clientele
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a related field
- Experience with large-scale distributed computing systems
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience with real-time streaming data processing
- Strong background in retail or e-commerce analytics
