About the Role
Are you ready to take your career to the next level? Are you passionate about data, technology, and innovation in the tax and finance space? We are looking for a talented and driven Senior Tax Data Innovation & Analytics Director to join our expanding Tax Technology team at arenaflex.
This is a pivotal role within our organization. You'll serve as a critical bridge between our tax department, engineering teams, and business operations, driving the innovation and information strategies that support our global expansion. You'll report directly to our Chief Tax Officer and work alongside some of the most talented professionals in the industry.

Key Responsibilities
As our Senior Tax Data Innovation & Analytics Director, you'll be responsible for leading strategic initiatives that transform how we collect, process, and utilize tax data across the organization. Here's what you'll be doing:
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the company's tax data and automation roadmap, working cross-functionally to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate directly with business partners to identify tax data and technology needs, define requirements, and manage implementation of new solutions.
- Data Architecture: Partner with data engineers and developers to design new data sources, tooling, and infrastructure that meet the evolving needs of the tax department.
- Innovation & Experimentation: Explore cutting-edge technologies such as AI and machine learning to bring innovative ideas to tax operations and data management.
- Process Optimization: Continuously challenge the status quo and develop smarter, more efficient ways to manage and process tax data at scale.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work end-to-end across the organization – from front-end business teams to engineering and accounting – to ensure the integrity of our tax data streams.
- Team Enablement: Elevate the tax team's understanding and utilization of automation technologies through knowledge sharing, training, and documentation.
- Technology Implementation: Lead the implementation of workflow solutions in Alteryx Cloud and other automation platforms.
- Requirements & Testing: Write business requirements and lead testing efforts to support large-scale data projects and system implementations.
- Data Analysis: Solve complex problems using data analysis for large-scale tax operations and compliance initiatives.
Essential Qualifications
We're looking for candidates who bring a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership capabilities. Here's what you need to succeed in this role:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, MIS, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field of study.
- Experience Level: Minimum of 4+ years of experience in data and automation roles, with preference for tax-related data experience.
- Technical Skills: Deep experience running SQL queries and working with databases.
- Automation Expertise: Proven experience developing workflows in Alteryx Cloud (Alteryx Designer/Alteryx Analytics Cloud).
- Tool Proficiency: Knowledge of technology tools including Alteryx Desktop, Snowflake, Python, and similar platforms.
- Project Management: Experience writing business requirements and testing to support large data projects.
- Data Analysis: Experience participating in the research and testing of new datasets.
- Productivity Tools: Proficiency with productivity software including Monday.com, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace (G-sheets, docs, and slides).
- Analytical Abilities: Strong attention to detail with exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-Motivation: A self-starter with demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work independently.
- Curiosity & Drive: An inquisitive mind with a strong drive to find the right answers and solve complex challenges.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Leadership Qualities: Strong emotional intelligence, empathy for others, and a customer-centric approach.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will help you stand out and excel in this role:
- Experience with Machine Learning and Statistical Analysis methodologies.
- Knowledge of database design and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) best practices.
- Experience with scripting languages and code review for accuracy.
- Alteryx Core Certification or advanced Alteryx credentials.
- CPA, CMA, or relevant professional certification (or candidate status).
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and architecture.
- Background in tax technology implementation at scale.
