(Senior) Project Safety Managers

We have openings for both Senior Project Safety Managers and Project Safety Coordinators throughout the United States Reports to: Regional Safety Supervisor / Manager of Safety Scope of Position Leads project safety & health program in direct coordination with the project superintendent and assigned Regional Safety Supervisor. Maintains a safe project environment to ensure the protection of all who engage the property including Haskell, contract partner, client and the general public personnel. Coordinates project activities to comply with rules, regulations, and policies applicable to project safety. Job Responsibilities • Actively participates in all site safety orientation efforts, daily/weekly team and/or subcontractor meetings, scope preconstruction meetings, and daily and/or weekly craft safety meetings. • Provides both monitoring and coaching related to the required daily Safe Work Plans (SWP). • Participates in project safety audits and communication of findings to the project team on a frequent basis to foster hazard recognition training. (minimum of weekly) Enters audit findings into the SafetyNet (Predictive Solutions) database. Manages open issues reporting and ensures all identified hazards are promptly abated. • Maintains all project safety related documentation including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), trade safety programs, project postings, competent person /training data as required. Reviews/audits contract partner documentation for accuracy. • Actively participates in accident/incident investigations and assists project superintendent in the prompt reporting. Ensures Regional Safety Supervisor and Director - Corporate Safety is immediately notified. • Administers and maintains all work permit programs in cooperation with Project Superintendent (Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Permits, Excavation Permits, LOTO Permits) • Coordinates and/or conducts safety training as required on the project • Actively promotes and enforces the Haskell Code of Safe Practices and related safety policies • Accompanies any site visitors or authorized persons in project visits as coordinated with the Project Superintendent. • Supports the Project Superintendent in safety preplanning efforts prior to commencing work activities. Maintains continued emphasis on supporting the activities and work in the safest manner possible. • Should hazards classified as imminent danger or serious be identified, immediately take action to stop work and protect others from the hazard. Prompt contact will be made to the Project Superintendent for immediate correction. Identification of corrective actions and/or disciplinary actions in coordination with the Project Superintendent and Regional Safety Supervisor. • Maintains frequent communications with Regional Safety Supervisor regarding project safety issues, concerns and upcoming activities. • Maintain competency in the safety field through annual continuing education. Acquire a minimum of 8-hours of safety related training annually and provide knowledge deliverable document/training upon completion for the benefit of the group and organization Education/Experience Minimum of 5 years active safety experience within the construction industry or pursuit of safety related degree. Professional Development • Maintain competency in the safety field through annual continuing education. Acquire a minimum of 16-hours of safety related training annually (Haskell or approved industry vendor/organization) and provide knowledge deliverable document/training upon completion for the benefit of the group and organization. • Creates and implements, with supervisor input, a development plan to become recognized as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in specific areas within the company related to safety. Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications Etc. • Employee should be able to have a thorough understanding of and the ability to enforce all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations. • Minimum OTI OSHA 30 hour for the Construction Industry current within three (3) years • Recognized certification (STS, CSST, CSSS) through BCSP or NCCER • Ability to Easily recognize construction safety hazards and demonstrate effective means to address and/or re-approach the condition • Must possess good interpersonal skills (Verbal and Non-Verbal) • Ability to problem solve and make sound informed decisions. • Employee must be flexible regarding travel and project assignments. • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written. • Sound computer skills and ability to adapt quickly to new software/technology Core Competencies 1. Trust: High standards of ethics and personal accountability; transparency; credibility; fairness Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
