Location: California (Hybrid / Remote with Local Project Travel)
We are seeking a Senior Process Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of municipal wastewater treatment and advanced water reuse facilities across California. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technical leader who can take projects from concept through IFC, translate process modeling into buildable designs, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Lead process design development for wastewater and advanced water treatment facilities from concept through Issued for Construction (IFC)
• Develop and execute process simulations (e.g., BioWin or equivalent)
• Design and optimize biological treatment and BNR systems, including:
• MBR, MBBR, SBR, IFAS
• Bardenpho, MLE, oxidation ditches
• Design and integrate advanced treatment and water reuse systems, including:
• MF / UF, NF, RO, and AOP
• Translate process models into detailed deliverables:
• Hydraulic profiles, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, and layouts
• Lead equipment selection and system design for:
• Pumps, blowers, aeration systems, reactors, membrane systems, chemical dosing
• Coordinate closely with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and I&C teams
• Participate in design reviews, resolve technical challenges, and support commissioning/startup as needed
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal engineering standards
• Support proposals and project pursuits, including technical narratives, preliminary sizing, and cost inputs
What We’re Looking For
• 10–15+ years of experience designing municipal wastewater and water reclamation facilities
• Strong background in process modeling, preferably BioWin
• Proven experience delivering designs from concept through IFC
• Deep expertise in BNR and biological treatment systems
• Solid experience with advanced membrane treatment and reuse projects
• Ability to independently produce and review:
• PFDs, P&IDs, hydraulic profiles, and process calculations
• Experience working in California regulatory and municipal environments
