About the position
Responsibilities
• Review quarterly estimates for accuracy including recalculations of premiums, commissions, reinstatements etc.
• Investigate possible anomalies during analysis of the PL for the portfolio and prepare adjusting entries (Assistance Entry “AE”) for booking into the reinsurance system, OMEGA, when needed.
• Monitor large loss movements and enter adjusting entries (“AE”) for changes in additional case reserves.
• Run the closing BO control reports during closing period and evaluate balance movements for accuracy. Coordinate with Group Closing to book adjustment entries to the reinsurance system.
• Provide a comprehensive and informative analysis for the quarterly internal landing P&L results with an emphasis on Division, Line of business, Underwriting office, and Comparison to plan.
• Analyze financial results (both balance sheet and P&L, consolidated and standalone) including the production of quarterly detailed analysis.
• Analyze Cash Flow inputs to identify material movements and formulate commentary for the Clearance TouchPoint presentation.
• Comply with all closing internal controls, supported with comprehensive documentation and a clean audit trail.
• Special projects as assigned by Dept. head.
Requirements
• College Degree required, preferably in Finance or Accounting.
• Finance, Accounting and/or financial analysis experience in the financial services industry and/or public accounting firms.
• Effective understanding of financial technical closing process, project management techniques, and can demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite including creating and delivering effective PowerPoint presentations, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, visually engaging manner.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel is essential including expertise with formulas and pivot tables to analyze and interpret data efficiently.
• Shows business maturity, has strong presence, and possesses good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally with business segments and other finance departments.
• Demonstrates accountability by following through on commitments and effectively manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
• Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
