This position is a cornerstone role within our Data Engineering and Analytics group within the Technology division. What You'll Do
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-scale data solutions that drive business intelligence and operational excellence. Here's what your day-to-day will look like:
- Collaborate with Source Data Application Teams and Product Owners: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and support analytics solutions that provide actionable insights for better decision-making across the organization.
- Implement Data Migration and Engineering Solutions: Leverage Microsoft Azure products and services including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Databricks, and traditional data warehouse tools to build robust data infrastructure.
- Own the Full Development Lifecycle: Take responsibility for all aspects of development including design, cloud engineering (infrastructure, networking, security, and topology), data ingestion, deployment, data modeling, testing, CI/CD pipelines, performance tuning, organizations, usage, BI, alarming, and push support.
- Provide Technical Leadership: Collaborate effectively within a team environment while also demonstrating the ability to work independently and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
- Embrace DevOps Ownership: Be part of a DevOps team that completely owns and supports their products—from initial design through production deployment and ongoing maintenance.
- Build Batch and Streaming Data Pipelines: Develop scalable batch and streaming data pipelines using cutting-edge cloud technologies that process millions of records in real-time.
- Drive Innovation and Best Practices: Lead the development of coding standards, best practices, and data protection and security guidelines that ensure quality and compliance across all data initiatives.
- Mentor and Coach Others: Share your technical and domain expertise with team members to create multi-functional teams and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical discipline—or comparable experience and training.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of programming solution development using Agile, DevOps, working in a product model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions.
- Data Analysis Skills: Minimum 3 years of data analysis experience using SQL, with the ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and derive meaningful insights from large datasets.
- Cloud Development Expertise: Minimum 2 years of cloud development and data lake experience (Microsoft Azure preferred) including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI.
- Technical Proficiency: A combination of Development, Deployment, and Support experience in several of the following tools and platforms:
- Scripting: Python, Scala, Unix, SQL
- Data Platforms: Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, Snowflake
- Azure Data Services: Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, Azure Functions
- CI/CD: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform
- BI Analysis Tools: Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, Grafana
- Data Warehousing: DataStage, Informatica
- Data Governance and Protection: Informatica Axon and EDC, BigID
Preferred Qualifications
If you have these additional skills, you'll stand out from the crowd:
- 5+ years of programming solution development using Agile, DevOps, and product models with experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions.
- 5+ years of data analysis experience using SQL.
- 3+ years of full-stack development experience, preferably in Azure.
- 3+ years of cloud development and data lake experience with advanced Azure services including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, ADX, ASA, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI.
- Azure Development Track Certification (preferred).
- Scala Certification (preferred).
