Senior Business Development Manager – Intellectual Property Solutions and Services

Sell Dennemeyer services within a given territory and covering both clients and new prospects. Services We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Business Development Manager to drive new business growth and strategic account expansion across our intellectual property (IP) services and solutions portfolio, including IP management, legal support services, and technology-enabled offerings. This role is ideal for a consultative, results-driven sales professional with 7–15 years of experience selling IP-related services, legal solutions, or adjacent offerings, with a strong understanding of the IP lifecycle and client needs. The successful candidate will engage with corporate IP departments, legal teams, law firms, and innovation-driven organizations, building executive-level relationships and leading complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles. You will play a key role in expanding our footprint by positioning integrated service and technology solutions that deliver measurable business value. Key Responsibilities: Business Development & Revenue Growth Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities across IP services, including annuities, renewals, filings, legal support, and IP management solutions Build and execute strategic territory and account plans aligned with growth objectives Drive net-new logo acquisition while expanding existing accounts through cross-selling and upselling Maintain a strong pipeline through proactive outreach, referrals, industry events, and partner channels Own the full sales cycle from initial engagement through negotiation and contract execution Consultative Solution Selling Understand client needs across the full IP lifecycle (patents, trademarks, renewals, portfolio management, and enforcement) Conduct discovery sessions and present tailored solutions combining services and technology Clearly articulate value propositions, including cost efficiency, risk mitigation, compliance, and operational improvements Develop customized proposals, pricing models, and commercial frameworks Partner with internal teams to deliver integrated service + technology solutions Relationship Management Build trusted advisor relationships with Heads of IP, General Counsel, legal ops teams, and law firm partners Maintain and grow relationships throughout the customer lifecycle Collaborate with delivery and customer success teams to ensure client satisfaction and retention Identify long-term opportunities for account expansion and strategic partnerships Market & Industry Engagement Stay informed on trends in IP services, legal operations, and innovation ecosystems Represent the company at industry conferences, IP forums, and client events Provide ongoing market intelligence and client feedback to internal stakeholders Sales Process & Forecasting Maintain accurate pipeline and forecasting data in CRM systems Deliver regular sales updates, forecasts, and account reviews Follow structured sales processes while maintaining a flexible, client-centric approach Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 7–15 years of business development or sales experience, preferably within: IP services (annuities, renewals, filings, portfolio management) Professional services or consulting in IP/legal space Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles Strong ability to build executive relationships and influence decision-making Excellent negotiation and commercial acumen Preferred Qualifications ·Direct experience selling IP services (patent/trademark renewals, filings, docketing, etc.) ·Strong understanding of the IP lifecycle (patents, trademarks, copyrights) ·Experience working with corporate IP departments, law firms, or innovation teams ·Exposure to bundled solutions (services + software) ·Experience working globally or with multinational clients Performance Metrics Success in this role will be measured by: New business revenue and annual bookings Net-new customer acquisition Pipeline generation and conversion rates Strategic account growth Customer retention and expansion Contribution to market growth initiatives Compensation Competitive base salary with uncapped commission structure, including additional incentives tied to new business acquisition, strategic account growth, and achievement of annual performance objectives. Requirements • Experience in sales, account management or marketing: preferably in intellectual property or technical sales • Excellent communication skills in English and the local language of the area of influence • Well-structured and self-motivated with a distinct team approach • Strong analytical skills and target-focused mentality required • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and to function well in loosely structured situations Desired • University degree advantageous; otherwise prove experience and track record • Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM is considered an advantage • Orientation to work with international colleagues in a dynamic working environment Dennemeyer is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
