Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Healthcare Analytics division. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our internal IT, information architecture, and analytics teams to build and maintain robust data infrastructure that powers automated reporting for our Healthcare Quality Improvement program—specifically focusing on data and insights commercialization.
As a Senior Analytics Engineer at arenaflex, you will work alongside a cross-functional team of data professionals, Business Intelligence engineers, system administrators, and stakeholders to deliver actionable performance insights across our Health and Wellness initiatives. This position offers the chance to work on large-scale data projects, design scalable data pipelines, and contribute to strategic decision-making that impacts both our organization and the patients we serve.
Key Responsibilities
As a key member of our analytics engineering team, you will be responsible for driving the delivery of data and insights initiatives that power arenaflex's Healthcare division. Your technical leadership and expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and accessibility of data that informs critical business decisions. Below is a detailed breakdown of the responsibilities you will own:
- Lead Data Infrastructure Development: Collaborate with internal IT and analytics teams to design, implement, and maintain data foundation components that enable report automation for the arenaflex Healthcare Quality Improvement program, including data and insights commercialization efforts.
- Drive Data and Insights Delivery: Direct the delivery of healthcare data and insights projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder requirements. Manage both long-term strategic data efforts and ad-hoc analysis requests.
- ETL and Data Warehousing: Support ongoing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and data warehousing activities to meet healthcare reporting and analytics demands. Ensure data integrity, efficiency, and scalability across all data pipelines.
- Design Data Pipelines and Databases: Plan, develop, and deploy multi-tiered databases and data pipelines to support reporting and analytics projects. Create robust architectures that enable self-service analytics and business intelligence.
- Data Modeling and Preprocessing: Develop data staging and preprocessing standards for populating logical and physical data models attached to report-specific working tables. Support both enterprise business intelligence and predefined reporting solutions.
- Integration and Data Loading: Apply data extraction, transformation, and loading best practices to integrate large datasets from various internal production system sources and third-party files. Work with diverse data formats and sources.
- Data Profiling and Analysis: Perform comprehensive data profiling and analysis across internal production systems, manually maintained data, and standard healthcare datasets including member eligibility, clinical claims, pharmacy claims, and HEDIS ECDS records.
- Automation and Tool Development: Create internal tools for automating development-related activities including data processing, quality assurance, data validation, and deployment workflows. Drive efficiency through innovative automation solutions.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
To succeed in this role, you must bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for data-driven problem solving. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:
- Technical Expertise in SQL and ETL/ELT: Proven hands-on experience writing and tuning SQL-based ETL/ELT scripts. You should be comfortable with complex queries, performance optimization, and debugging data pipeline issues.
- Cloud Data Platform Experience: Experience designing and implementing logically separated data environments using ETL/ELT services such as Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or Snowflake. Familiarity with cloud-based data architecture is essential.
- Business Intelligence Tools: Experience providing thought leadership and presenting vendor-agnostic semantic data layer enhancements related to BI technology platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, internal partners, clients, and vendor relationships. You must be able to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Business Acumen: A minimum of 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace. Understanding of how data drives business value and strategic outcomes.
- Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect management, or cross-functional team leadership experience. You should be comfortable guiding teams, mentoring junior members, and driving projects to successful completion.
- Travel Availability: Willing and able to travel up to 5% of the time for business purposes, including both intra-state and inter-state travel as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
While the following qualifications are not required, they will be considered a strong advantage:
- Certification: Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) or equivalent data management certification.
- Healthcare Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with pharmacy, healthcare, and clinical research concepts. Understanding of healthcare data standards, claims processing, and population health metrics is highly desirable.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Awareness of healthcare data regulations and compliance requirements, including HIPAA considerations when working with protected health information.
