Software Technology Inc. is seeking a Senior-level Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Systems Administrator to backfill a critical role due to an upcoming retirement. This role is focused on Omnissa Horizon, supporting a large, enterprise Windows environment and requires a seasoned infrastructure professional who can manage complex projects and serve as a technical escalation point.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain VDI environments primarily using Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon), with limited Citrix support
- Deploy, publish, and manage virtualized applications and desktops
- Lead and execute project-based VDI initiatives, including new environment builds and enhancements
- Serve as a Tier 3 escalation resource for complex technical issues that junior team members or support teams cannot resolve
- Perform hands-on administration using PowerShell for automation and system management
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, architect solutions, and implement designs end-to-end
- Support VDI infrastructure running on the hypervisor layer (no bare-metal server administration required)
- Manage and create Active Directory objects, including GPOs and OUs (advanced AD architecture handled by separate AD engineers)
- Mentor junior team members as needed (no formal people leadership responsibilities)
- Participate in future-state initiatives involving cloud adoption (Azure and/or AWS)
Skills
- 5+ years of Omnissa Horizon/Citrix VDI Administration Experience (Citrix Experience is acceptable due to the technology overlap)
- 5+ year of Senior-Level Windows Infrastructure Experience | Enterprise Windows environments, Strong familiarly with Windows servers in virtualized environments
- PowerShell Scripting & Automation Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience administering VDI environments
- Strong preference for Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon)
- Strong Windows infrastructure background
- Demonstrated experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
- Ability to understand, modify, and leverage scripts (expert-level not required)
- Solid troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex, high-impact issues
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale environments
- Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical outcomes
- Background beyond desktop support (desktop-only experience will not be sufficient)
