Our client, a cutting-edge chemical manufacturing and research firm, is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Remote Senior Process Chemist to join their fully remote R&D team. This role is critical for developing, optimizing, and scaling up chemical processes for the production of novel materials and compounds. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of synthetic chemistry, chemical engineering principles, process safety, and analytical techniques. You will play a key role in translating laboratory-scale discoveries into viable, efficient, and safe manufacturing processes, working collaboratively with global teams in a virtual environment. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimize chemical synthesis routes and processes for new and existing products. Conduct rigorous laboratory experiments to evaluate reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and identify optimal operating conditions. Scale-up chemical processes from laboratory benchtop to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing, addressing potential challenges. Develop and implement robust process safety protocols, including HAZOP studies and risk assessments. Utilize advanced analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, NMR, FTIR) for process monitoring, product characterization, and quality control. Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues to ensure consistent product quality and yield. Collaborate closely with chemical engineers, R&D scientists, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer. Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Stay abreast of the latest advancements in synthetic chemistry, process intensification, and green chemistry principles. Contribute to intellectual property generation through patent applications and publications. Mentor junior chemists and provide technical guidance. Qualifications: Ph.D. or Master's degree in Organic Chemistry, Process Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering. Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in process development and optimization within the chemical industry. Proven track record of successfully scaling up complex chemical processes. Strong expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and purification techniques. In-depth knowledge of process safety management (PSM) principles and risk assessment methodologies. Proficiency with analytical instrumentation and data interpretation. Excellent problem-solving skills and a systematic approach to experimentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective remote collaboration. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote setting. Experience with computational chemistry tools is a plus.
