Our client, a global leader in automotive technology, is seeking an experienced Senior Automotive Diagnostic Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. This role is critical for developing, implementing, and validating advanced diagnostic systems for next-generation vehicles. You will leverage your deep understanding of vehicle electronics, software, and diagnostic protocols to ensure the reliability and performance of our automotive products worldwide.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop diagnostic software tools and strategies for various automotive electronic control units (ECUs). Create and maintain diagnostic specifications, test procedures, and documentation for onboard diagnostics (OBD) systems. Perform root cause analysis of diagnostic issues and implement effective solutions. Collaborate with hardware and software development teams to ensure seamless integration of diagnostic features. Develop and execute test plans for diagnostic systems, including simulation and vehicle-level testing. Utilize diagnostic data acquisition tools and analyze vehicle communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet). Stay abreast of evolving automotive diagnostic standards (e.g., ISO 14229, UDS) and industry trends. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on diagnostic methodologies. Contribute to the continuous improvement of diagnostic development processes and tools. Work closely with manufacturing and service departments to resolve field issues related to diagnostics.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive diagnostics, ECU software development, or embedded systems. In-depth knowledge of automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, UDS, and DoIP. Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in diagnostics, such as C, C++, Python. Experience with diagnostic test equipment and simulation tools. Strong understanding of vehicle electrical architectures and electronic control systems. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. Ability to work independently and manage complex projects in a remote setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and team collaboration. Experience with AUTOSAR or other automotive software architectures is a plus. Knowledge of functional safety (ISO 26262) is advantageous.
