The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will act as a subject matter expert in developing automated systems for production and packaging, collaborating with teams to troubleshoot and improve automation processes.
Responsibilities
- Streamline the manufacturing process while maintaining product quality and adhering to FDA regulations and cGMP guidelines
- Administrate user access and system backups on all industrial equipment
- Identify improvements and work with the internal engineering team and external engineering firms to design, develop and implement automated equipment and upgrades
- Develop and maintain documentation for automation equipment or processes
- Support the continuous improvement of site automation systems
- Support maintenance team on troubleshooting and problem solving on existing equipment
Skills
- Bachelors degree required. Preferably with a focus on automation, process control, electrical or mechanical
- A minimum of 3 years of hands on experience in industrial controls and automation, especially on the design, implementation and sustaining automated systems for manufacturing
- Must be able to demonstrated, technically sound, engineering background and proven successes in maintaining and improving automation systems for a manufacturing environment in a regulated industry
- Ability to develop process requirement specifications, collaborate with outside design firms and work with Operations personnel to establish efficient solution systems
- Read, understand, verify and develop P&ID, Engineering Layout, Engineering Drawings and Engineering documents
- Strong programming and troubleshooting skills in BAS/BMS Systems (Siemens Insight/Desigo), PLC (Allen Bradley/Rockwell), HMI (PanelView, Wonderware InTouch, IFix)
- Superb problem-solving and communication skills
- Familiar with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, cGMP guideline and GAMP5
- Proficient in MS Office and MS Project
- Experience in data acquisition, historian solutions, virtualization, and/or AutoCAD a plus
