They are seeking a Senior Power Systems Consultant to support the planning and integration of renewables into the electrical grid and perform simulations for clients to ensure reliable power system operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform transmission planning through the application of power systems planning principles to simulate and analyze the power system steady state and dynamic behavior
- Prepare detailed written reports describing analyses performed, conclusions, and recommendations
- Work in small project teams, ensuring deliverables are of high quality and projects are completed within budget and schedule
- Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis
- Support proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines
- Deliver on-site technical consulting/training services
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the electric power industry (beyond academia: professional power systems work at a consulting firm, utility, national lab, ISO, RTO, etc.)
- Candidate must have knowledge of transmission system planning or operations with experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability using PSS®E, TARA, or TSAT in Transmission system planning and/or operations experience in MISO or SPP footprints—or PSCAD analysis experience in these or other regions (system-wide analysis preferred)
- Ability to travel 10% domestically
- Prior experience in Power System Consulting
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power and Energy Systems
