They are seeking a Fractional AI/ML 3D Engineer for a 4-month engagement to guide algorithm direction and contribute to the development of a platform that converts 2D drawings into interactive 3D tools.
Responsibilities
- Build the pipeline conversions of 2D to 3D drawings
- Own primitive extraction, annotation parsing, and 3D solid generation
Skills
- Python production development
- AI/ML model training and fine-tuning
- Computer vision for document understanding
- Geometric primitive extraction from raster and vector inputs (points, lines, arcs, circles)
- 2D engineering drawing parsing across TIFF, PDF, and DWG formats
- CAD library integration for DWG ingestion
- 3D solid modeling, watertight mesh generation, STEP/IGES/Parasolid/STL export
- ASME Y14.5 GD&T parsing
- Dimension and tolerance extraction from title blocks and orthographic views
- Engineering drawing conventions, orthographic projection, section cuts, title block fields, material specification callouts, surface finish callouts, manufacturing notes, inspection criteria
- US Person, US citizen
- Eligible for Tier-1 (T1) background investigation
- Able to operate under Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) handling under NIST SP 800-171
- This engagement is US-only and not open to non-US-citizen applicants
- Familiarity with industry-standard CAM software for round-trip validation
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) data integration
- Offline-first and air-gapped system experience
- Security hardening familiarity
- Prior defense or aerospace sustainment engagement
- Unity 3D for visualization
