They are seeking a Finance Specialist to provide specialized financial management services, including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and private award administration, while ensuring compliance with TNC policies and financial standards.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate multiple projects and deliverable outcomes on a timely basis
- Prepare and monitor budgets, financial reports and communicate financial information to project staff
- Prepare journal entries and other financial transactions
- Maintain BU financial data, including journal entries, adjustments, and project records
- Research transactions, prepare ad hoc reports, and identify follow-up actions as needed
- Financial reporting and administration of private awards
- State and local tax filings, as needed
- Reporting and compliance/tax for related entities (LLCs), if applicable
- Ensuring programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance
- Back-up support for accounts payable and accounts receivable
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 3 years' related experience or equivalent combination
- Experience manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data
- Experience with accounting/financial issues and analysis
- Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems, Workday preferred
- Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices and regulations and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IRFS) (Canada)
- Experience organizing time and managing diverse activities to meet deadlines

- Non-profit accounting experience
- Experience with The Nature Conservancy's policies, procedures, and financial systems
- Multi-lingual skills and/or multi-cultural experience appreciated
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks
- Experience using technology to achieve desired results
