They are seeking an Azure Data Migration Engineer to support a federal program focused on infrastructure modernization, leading data migration efforts from Oracle to Azure.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure data integrity throughout the migration lifecycle
- Create data mapping documents (source to target) based on business rules
- Perform data profiling, cleansing, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of migrated data
- Analyze and map source Oracle database schemas to target Dataverse tables/entities, defining transformation and cleansing logic as needed
- Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for Oracle databases to support data migration
- Implement data transformation processes to ensure data compatibility with Dataverse data types, relationships, and constraints
- Configure data pipelines in Azure Data Factory to extract, transform, and load data from sources such as CSV files and Oracle CDCs
- Log errors from Azure Data Factory pipelines to a Dataverse table using an audit framework
- Push data to Dataverse tables, including necessary transformations for target field types (lookups, choices, date/time)
- Configure pipeline settings to optimize concurrency and performance (cores, memory)
- Utilize additional Azure services (e.g., Logic Apps, Data Lake, Azure Functions, Azure SQL) as needed
- Generate reconcile reports of migrated data using SQL or scripts
- Maintain familiarity with Git or source code repositories and CI/CD processes
Skills
- Advanced experience in data migration, especially from Oracle to Azure
- Strong skills in Azure SQL data migration
- Proficiency in SQL, including writing and optimizing queries and stored procedures
- Experience with data migration tools and processes, including CSV imports
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- US Citizen with an active Secret clearance to start
- Experience with Dataverse and Azure Data Factory
- Familiarity with Azure Data Lake Analytics, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps
