OTR Driver

Job Summary:
•    Class A CDL drivers efficiently deliver the right product to customer accounts in a courteous, professional, compliant, safe and timely manner. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
•    Drive a diesel-powered tractor-trailer combination or a one-ton truck in towaway operations, usually over long distances. 
•    Load, transport, and deliver company products, towaways, general freight, machinery, motor vehicles, lumber, building materials, metal sheets – loose or in package form. 
•    Ensure that freight paperwork is completed for each load.  
•    Drive and apply knowledge of DOT commercial driving regulations and in maneuvering vehicle in traffic and difficult situations. 
•    Inspect equipment for defects before, during, and after each trip. Submit report indicating equipment conditions to Transportation Manager. 
•    Maintain Drivers’ logs in accordance with DOT regulations. 
•    Secure cargo according to DOT regulations. 
•    Assist in loading and unloading of company products. 
•    Ensuring timely delivery of company products in a safe, efficient, and legal manner. 


Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Requirements:
•    Valid Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL). 
•    Two or more years of proven experience in commercial truck driving is required. 
•    Knowledge of all DOT Regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
•    Meets all standards (medical, safety, etc.) required by the DOT and pass required drug and alcohol testing.
•    Acceptable background investigation results with no accidents or moving violations within the last 3 years and no felony convictions of DUI/DWI within the last 5 years. 
•    Proficient in reading maps and/or using a GPS or other routing systems. 
•    Making safety a priority at all times. 


Physical Demands: 
•     Able to long-haul transport for extended periods of time.
•     Able to squat, crouch, and reach as needed to handle cargo; able to enter and exit the vehicle’s cab numerous times each day. 
•     Able to install and remove chains, straps, tarps, tiedowns, hook and unlock trailers, secure freight, etc. 
•     Must be able to work in severe weather conditions – both heat and cold.
