As a key member of our Office of Military and Veterans Services, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational pursuits of our veteran students. This remote position offers a competitive hourly rate of $25 and a flexible schedule of 29 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
About the Role: As a School Certifying Official, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of veterans using their benefits, ensuring compliance with Department of Veteran Affairs program requirements, and providing expert guidance on veteran education benefits. Your exceptional communication and customer service skills will enable you to effectively advise veteran students, respond to inquiries, and collaborate with our team to drive success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of veterans using their benefits, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to the VA
- Comply with Department of Veteran Affairs program requirements, federal and state regulations, and college policies
- Advise veteran students on their declared major and answer benefits questions related to Post 911 benefits and other eligible veteran education benefits
- Respond to inquiries from veteran students and eligible dependents via telephone, email, and online chat
- Perform daily records auditing functions for yearly compliance surveys
- Collaborate with the Director of Military and Veterans Services to achieve team goals
Requirements:
- Experience with veterans' programs and procedures in a higher education setting
- Experience with customer service and understanding military benefits
- Ability to establish goals and priorities, make decisions based on program and institutional policies, and interpret and explain academic, administrative, and veteran policies
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to provide accurate information and support to veteran students
- Flexibility and motivation to learn new systems, including Enrollment Manager
