Arup is a global company dedicated to sustainable development and innovation. They are seeking a Fluids Analyst to join their Environmental and Building Physics team, focusing on computational fluid dynamics and wind engineering to tackle challenges related to the built environment.
Responsibilities
- Use analytical and numerical methods such as computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and dynamic thermal modelling to solve our clients’ most difficult challenges
- Perform and report wind engineering studies to determine structural wind loads, pedestrian comfort, urban heat island, and microclimate characteristics
- Conduct studies to understand the risk posed by natural hazards and the physical threat of climate change
- Collaborate with other engineers and consultants on innovative buildings and infrastructure projects
- Work on defined tasks under the supervision of a senior engineer
Skills
- Minimum of a 4-year bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on fluid mechanics or wind engineering
- Fundamental knowledge of fluid mechanics
- Basic understanding of computer programming and/or coding experience
- Interest in the built environment and the design of sustainable infrastructure
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without the need for employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future
- Cover letter included in application submission
- Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher
- A master's degree or PhD in engineering is desirable but not required
- Proficiency in OpenFOAM and/or Ansys computational fluid dynamics software
- Experience or familiarity with the built environment, i.e. buildings, transportation infrastructure, and other civil infrastructure
