Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-volume data entry tasks to maintain and update authorization requests in our utilization management system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist the utilization management team with ongoing tracking and documentation of authorizations and referrals, adhering to established policies and guidelines.
- Contribute to the authorization review process by documenting necessary medical information, such as history, diagnosis, and prognosis, for clinical review and determination.
- Receive and triage faxes, expediting them to the relevant teams within the client's HealthPlan in a timely manner.
- Support the intake department to streamline the intake process, enhancing overall operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records, files, and documentation, ensuring compliance with all policies and standards.
- Process data for various teams, including Concurrent Review, Behavioral Health, and Medicare, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Performance Expectations
As an Authorization Specialist, you'll be expected to meet high-performance standards, including:
- Processing 3,500 to 4,000 faxes per day, with a turnaround time of 1-2 hours, depending on the form.
- Achieving a typing speed of 50-60 WPM, with a minimum of 10,000 keystrokes per hour.
Essential Qualifications
- A typing speed of 60+ WPM, verified through a typing test.
- A high school diploma, as a foundation for potential future opportunities.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a commitment to meeting the demands of a fast-paced environment.
