What You'll Do

As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll dive into one of the largest data ecosystems in the world. Your work will directly impact how data scientists and analysts leverage information to solve complex business challenges and create meaningful experiences for millions of customers.
Data Transformation and Integration
- Extract data from identified databases and sources with precision and attention to detail
- Design and build robust data pipelines that transform raw information into formats tailored to specific business problems
- Select appropriate transformation techniques and methodologies based on project requirements
- Stay current with emerging research trends in data engineering and analytics
- Optimize data flow processes for efficiency and scalability
Data Source Identification
- Support the understanding of requirement demands and service level agreements
- Identify the most suitable data sources that align with business objectives
- Perform initial data quality assessments on extracted datasets
- Evaluate data provenance and ensure data integrity throughout the pipeline
Data Modeling
- Analyze complex data elements, systems, data streams, relationships, and dependencies
- Contribute to conceptual, logical, and physical data models that support business needs
- Develop Logical Data Models and Physical Data Models including data warehouse and data mart designs
- Define relational tables, primary and foreign keys, and stored procedures to create robust data model structures
- Evaluate existing data models and physical databases for discrepancies and inconsistencies
- Design efficient data streams that enable rapid querying and analysis
- Investigate data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions
Code Development and Testing
- Write code to develop required solutions and application features using appropriate programming languages
- Utilize business, technical, and data requirements to inform development decisions
- Create test cases to assess and validate proposed solution designs
- Develop proofs of concept to validate architectural approaches
- Test code using appropriate testing methodologies and frameworks
- Deploy software to production servers with minimal disruption
- Contribute to code documentation and maintain playbooks for operational excellence
- Provide timely development updates to stakeholders
Applied Business Acumen
- Provide strategic recommendations to business partners to solve complex business problems
- Develop business cases for projects with projected ROI or cost savings
- Translate business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks that align with overall business strategy
- Act as a trusted advisor by delivering concrete solutions and measurable outcomes

Data Governance
- Establish, modify, and document data governance tasks and recommendations

- Provide recommendations for updates or contributions to data governance frameworks
Leadership and Mentorship
- Demonstrate advanced expertise and apply this to the development, execution, and improvement of operational plans

- Develop training documentation and train end-users on data modeling concepts
- Manage assignments of less experienced developers and provide system troubleshooting support
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Proficient with Hadoop, Spark, Cloud platforms, Python/PySpark, and Java
- Programming Skills: Proven track record coding with at least one programming language such as Scala or Python
- Cloud Platforms: Knowledgeable in at least one cloud computing platform such as GCP or Azure
- Data Modeling: Skilled in data modeling and data migration protocols
- Experience: Hands-on experience with GCP, data warehousing, and Business Intelligence tools
- Integration Tools: Experience with integration tools like Automic or Windflow
- Big Data Solutions: Experience building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL environments
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Databricks is an additional benefit
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases like Cosmos DB alongside RDBMS such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Hands-on working experience with messaging platforms like Kafka
- Ability to increase team efficiency by improving cycles of Software Development, Requirement Gathering, and Effort Assessment
- Demonstrating innovative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with streaming data processing and real-time analytics
- Understanding of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements
