Consulting Manager - Customer Solutions (Material Handling)

Position Summary

The Consulting Manager – Customer Solutions serves as a trusted advisor to customers evaluating, designing, or optimizing Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and warehouse automation solutions. This role works directly with distribution centers, manufacturing plants, and e-commerce fulfillment operations to assess current-state performance, identify operational bottlenecks, develop ROI-driven automation strategies, and support solution design in partnership with engineering and sales teams.  This role also will be developing and managing a team of consultants. 

Core Responsibilities

·         Manage and support core consulting team.

·         Provide insight and training into core consulting capabilities.

·         Yearly reviews and direct feedback to employees.

·         Identify Development opportunities for staff and how to address them.

·         Conduct on-site operational assessments of distribution centers and manufacturing facilities.

·         Analyze throughput, pick rates, labor productivity, storage density, and material flow.

·         Develop future-state automation roadmaps aligned to customer growth plans.

·         Build ROI models, payback analysis, and total cost of ownership comparisons.

·         Quantify labor savings, capacity gains, safety improvements, and accuracy benefits.

·         Support RFP responses and solution design validation with engineering teams.

·         Partner with Sales to influence strategic pursuits and increase win rates.

·         Establish KPI baselines and validate post-installation ROI performance.

Requirements

Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field required.

·         MBA preferred.

·         7–12 years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or automation consulting.

·         Previous experience managing a team of consultants.

·         Direct exposure to conveyors, ASRS, robotics, sortation, or WMS/WCS environments.

·         Strong financial modeling and data analysis skills.

·         Executive-level presentation and consultative selling capability.
