About the position
Zales is looking for two strategic, trend-savvy Buyer II professionals to help shape compelling assortments that inspire customers and drive profitable growth. We currently have two exciting opportunities on our merchandising team: one supporting Men’s & Gold and one supporting Personalized/Closeout. In both roles, you’ll blend customer insight, business strategy, and product storytelling to build assortments that deliver value, quality, and style—while partnering cross-functionally to bring the vision to life across both in-store and ecommerce channels.
Responsibilities
• Develop and manage assortments that align with customer demand, category strategy, and Zales brand positioning.
• Drive product selection, pricing, testing, and lifecycle decisions to support sales, margin, and inventory productivity.
• Partner closely with sourcing, planning, marketing, visual merchandising, ecommerce, and store operations teams to execute category strategies.
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate key business terms, and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
• Use sales performance, trend insights, and competitive analysis to recommend assortment changes and new product opportunities.
• Present recommendations, promotional concepts, and business cases to merchandising leadership with clear rationale and supporting data.
• Lead assortment strategy for key men’s and gold categories, identifying opportunities to grow relevance, style authority, and customer demand.
• Lead assortment strategy for personalized and closeout categories across both in-store and ecommerce lanes, identifying opportunities to drive conversion, maximize inventory productivity, and create a seamless customer experience across channels.
• Ensure accuracy and consistency across customer-facing materials, including digital content, promotions, signage, and campaign assets.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of buying or merchandising experience, preferably in retail, fashion, accessories, or ecommerce.
• Strong analytical and financial acumen, with confidence using data to make assortment and pricing decisions.
• Skilled in vendor negotiation, cross-functional collaboration, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through.
• Comfortable working in Microsoft Office and other merchandising or planning tools.
• Ability to work in a metal-free environment when required, in alignment with security protocols.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment local to the Dallas, TX metro area.
