ABOUT THE ROLE  ESO is on a mission to improve community health and safety outcomes through the power of data. As Accounting Manager, Expense General Ledger, you will own the full expense side of ESO's books — from vendor payments and corporate card programs to complex technical accounting areas including capitalized software development costs and lease accounting under ASC 842. You will lead a globally dispersed team of three and serve as the primary expense business partner to FP&A, Tax, International Accounting, and Revenue Accounting/Collections.  This role is built for someone who combines technical precision with a continuous improvement mindset. You will champion AI and automation initiatives across the expense general ledger, drive efficient and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, and expense workstream integrations for M&A transactions. If you see accounting as a strategic function — not just a compliance exercise — this role is for you.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES  Expense General Ledger Ownership  Own the end-to-end expense general ledger, ensuring accurate, timely recording of all expense activity across all subsidiaries.  Drive monthly, quarterly, and annual expense close cycles with a focus on efficiency and precision.  Own the review and approval of expense related balance sheet accounts.  Maintain and strengthen internal controls across expense accounting processes.    Accounts Payable & Procurement  Oversee the AP and Travel & Expense functions, including full ownership of ESO's Ramp platform.  Lead corporate card program administration and purchase order/procurement workflows within Ramp.  Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely, accurate payment processing.    Technical Accounting  Own capitalized software development cost accounting (ASC 350-40), including tracking, capitalization, and amortization schedules.  Maintain lease accounting under ASC 842, including right-of-use asset and lease liability management.  Prepare and review technical accounting memos and related journal entries in accordance with US GAAP.    Team Leadership & Development  Lead and develop a globally dispersed team of three: 1 AP Specialist and 2 Staff Accountants.  Foster a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance.  Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.    AI & Automation Leadership  Champion AI and automation initiatives across the expense general ledger team, leveraging tools including Claude and Ramp's automation capabilities.  Identify workflow inefficiencies and build scalable, technology-forward solutions.  Model an AI-first mindset and help team members integrate AI tools into their day-to-day work.    Cross-Functional Partnership  Serve as the primary accounting partner to the Finance Business Partner (FP&A) organization for expense-related reporting, variance analysis, and planning support.  Collaborate regularly with Tax, International Accounting, and Revenue Accounting/Collections teams.  Translate complex accounting outcomes into clear, actionable insights for non-accounting stakeholders.    M&A Integration  Lead expense workstream integrations for acquired entities, ensuring timely and seamless transitions.  Serve as a key accounting contact for internal and external stakeholders throughout M&A transitions.    Systems & Continuous Improvement  Own and optimize ESO's accounting technology stack, including Ramp, NetSuite, and Adaptive Planning.  Push the limits of existing systems and processes to strengthen accounting's role as a strategic business partner.  Document and maintain standard operating procedures across all owned processes.  WHAT YOU BRING  Required  5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility.  Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including experience with ASC 350-40 (capitalized software) and ASC 842 (leases).  Hands-on experience with a cloud-based ERP (NetSuite strongly preferred).  Experience with AP/procurement/T&E platforms; Ramp experience is a strong plus.  Proven track record leading, developing, and retaining accounting team members.  Demonstrated ability to manage and improve close processes in a high-growth environment.  Genuine enthusiasm for AI and automation — a desire to lead, not just follow, in an AI-first environment.  Strong communication and cross-functional partnership skills.  Preferred  CPA license or active candidacy.  Experience with Adaptive Planning or a comparable FP&A tool.  Experience working in a SaaS or technology company.  Familiarity with international accounting considerations in a multi-entity environment.  Benefits & Perks   ESO offers a comprehensive suite of benefits to promote health and financial security for our employees and their families.
